Board Controls: knob, button and toggles Pro

A rotary knob, a push button and two toggle switches on the bar, all of them recoloured and mapped by you.

What they are

Board Controls are physical-looking controls beside the suggestion bar. They are optional, individually switchable, and come with NuKey Pro.

NuKey ProComes with NuKey Pro.

Rotary knob

Open Board Controls → Rotary Knob and switch on Show the knob in the suggestion bar.

  • Turn: choose what each rotary detent does. Cursor moves through text; Theme changes the active keyboard.
  • Press: choose a press action. Options include layer switching, undo, word deletion, lighting, Hangman and Nuke Mode, plus Shortcuts, Rewind, the tools hub and a next-keyboard globe.

Push button

A momentary push button with the same press actions as the knob. Its recessed bezel and illuminated cap follow the active keyboard's key colours. Press the preview to try its feel.

Toggle switches

Two switches sit beside the knob.

Switch 1 (three positions)Changes between the emoji and number rows.
Switch 2 (two positions)Shows or hides the comma and full stop keys.

Each position can also run an automation. See Shortcuts and automations.

Control size

Large is the size the controls have always been. Medium and Small scale all three together so they stay matched. Small stands them level with the proofreading companion. The touch targets stay the same size whichever you choose.

Colours and finish

  • Follow keycap style wears the active keyboard's key colours and keeps up when the theme changes.
  • Switch it off for custom colours: Cap top and bottom, Dish top and bottom, Lip & ribs, plate and switch tops and bottoms, the slot, and the tick-mark colour.
  • Choose a machined 3D finish or a flat one in the style of the iOS keycaps. Both wear the same colours.

Appearance has three modes. Both keeps one set of colours for Light and Dark. Light or Dark edits that appearance's own colours, so the knob can wear something different at night. The toggle only picks which set you are editing.
