Lighting Pro
Light under the keys: thirty-seven patterns, colour, speed, brightness and a flash as each key goes down.
Pick a pattern
Open Lighting. Patterns include Under Glow, Under Wave, Under Spectrum, Matrix rain, Constellation, Aurora, Afterglow and Comet, thirty-seven in all, and Off is always available and free. The Theme preview shows the result.
Tune it
| Colour | The colour of the light, where the pattern supports it. |
|---|---|
| Speed | How fast the pattern runs. |
| Brightness | How much light gets out between the keys. |
| Light on keypress | A key lights up as it goes down, like a reactive board. |
| Only on keypress | Stops supported patterns drifting on their own. Keys still spark as you type. |
Different for Light and Dark
Choose Both to use one setup everywhere, or Light / Dark to edit a separate setup for each. Each keeps its own pattern, colour, speed and brightness, so the two can be completely different. Separate setups come with Pro.
Why it looks best on a dark keyboard
The keyboard has no deck of its own. iOS draws the surface behind the keys, so what you see is the light itself coming through the gaps. It shows up best on a dark keyboard.
Battery and motion
- With Reduce Motion on, lighting settles into a still pose.
- The keyboard slows decorative animation in Low Power Mode.
- Nuke Mode turns lighting off entirely.
