Swipe typing and gestures

Glide across the letters, then use swipes on Delete and the space bar for fast editing.

Swipe to type

Turn on Swipe to type in Keys → Typing, then slide across the letters of a word without lifting. It is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Brazilian Portuguese.

  • Choose a trail style (the line that follows your finger) and a trail colour that every style uses.
  • Swiping is switched off in Nuke Mode.
TipIf a word lands wrong, check that the on-board language matches the one you are writing, then try a slightly slower swipe that touches each letter's key.

Swipe Delete to remove words

With Swipe Delete to remove words on, swipe left across Delete to remove a word at a time. Swipe back to put them back. Faster hold to delete separately speeds up holding Delete and reaches whole-word deletion sooner.

The space bar

Space bar cursor glideDrag slowly across the space bar to move the cursor, no need to hold first. A quick flick still switches language.
Swipe left on space for a commaFlick left across the space bar to type a comma and a space. With more than one language on, flicking right still switches language.
Double space for full stopTwo quick space taps type a full stop.

Press feedback

  • Key preview pops the pressed character up in a bubble above the key.
  • Key press animation sinks and darkens keys while they are pressed.
  • Key press tilt tips each cap toward where your finger lands on it.
