Sharing keyboards, switches and layouts
QR codes, links and NuKey codes: pass a whole keyboard, a switch, a lighting rig or a layout to someone else.
Three ways to share
| QR code or link | Shares a whole keyboard, artwork and all. Only people with the code can open it. The keyboard behind the code is hosted privately and only the genuine NuKey app can fetch it. |
|---|---|
| NuKey code | Layouts, switches, lighting rigs and sculpted caps travel inside the code itself. No server and no signal are needed, so it works off a sticker. |
| Public Gallery | Opt a share into the Gallery and anyone with NuKey can open it from the web. |
Share one of yours
- Hold a keyboard in its slot on the Theme page and choose Share.
- Choose the code, or a link. A share card is built for you to send.
- To list it publicly, switch on Show in the public gallery. Everything else stays private to whoever has the code.
Open one someone sent you
- Scan the QR code with the iPhone Camera, or tap a NuKey link. NuKey opens on the import sheet.
- Or use Import QR code on the Theme page, to read a code from Photos.
- Choose a free slot to save it in.
What a shared keyboard contains
- Colours for every key group, in Light and Dark.
- Lighting, backgrounds and keycap shape, including any sculpted shape.
- Optionally the switch and haptic strengths, and the layout.
- Legend fonts travel as a name only, and the importer downloads the same Google face.
Privacy
Nothing about you is attached to a share, and a keyboard is never listed publicly unless you ask. Share a keyboard to Studio's QR too: see Studio and Gallery.
